Black Ops Cold War Season 5 is here, and it has introduced all-new weapons and operators for everyone to enjoy. However, this recent season has been a little polarizing thanks to the overpowered design of the EM2 and the TEC-9, which are the two main new weapons added with the update.
Black Ops Cold War’s most recent update was that of Season 4 Reloaded, and it includes Mauer Der Toten, which is the game’s latest zombies map. Along with this new zombies experience, the update also featured the reintroduction of another fan-favorite Black Ops II map, Rush, set in a paintball course.
Black Ops Cold War has received a major update in the form of the Season 4 update that has brought a lot of new things to the game. For example, the reintroduction of the Hijacked map has made a lot of Call of Duty veterans happy because of how much they’ve awaited the map’s return.
Black Ops Cold War has seen the release of Season 3 Reloaded, and it has come with all-new events and challenges. The most notable addition so far is the release of the 80s Action Heroes event, featuring fan favorites like John McClane and Rambo, though there have also been some zombies balance changes for the better.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War has been met with lukewarm reception from the community, especially considering the stand-out return to form that Call of Duty Modern Warfare was last year. While last year introduced
Warzone, the Gunsmith system, and much more, it can sometimes feel like Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is a bit of a derivative.
However, that isn’t to say that Black Ops Cold War is a failure. If you’re a Call of Duty fan, you’ll likely enjoy the latest entry in the series, even though it lacks a bit of polish. But why does Black Ops Cold War feel so unpolished compared to previous Call of Duty games? It has something to do with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Think about it, the developers working on the game have been working from home for possibly the first time in their careers. This will naturally result in a product that isn’t quite up to par since the development cycle was interrupted by a calamitous worldwide pandemic that changed the video game industry.
Look at what happened with the botched release of Cyberpunk 2077. The pandemic managed to royally screw over nearly every game developer who had a flagship title coming out this year. Of course, despite its many flaws, you can still have fun playing Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. I know that I have.
Black Ops Cold War features an impressive single-player campaign that gives the user a lot more control than previous CoD campaigns. There are side missions, you can return to previous missions to collect more collectibles, and the Cold War story features the rich spy action you’d expect from a game set in this timeframe.
Alongside that, you’ll find a reworked zombies game mode that harkens back to the original zombies mode in World at War while still innovating and introducing new features.
Of course, we’ve yet to mention the star of any Call of Duty game: the multiplayer. Unfortunately, this game’s multiplayer has been met with mixed reception from fans and critics alike.
If you’re disappointed in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer, then maybe you want to spice up your experience with a few Black Ops Cold War hacks.
